Wireless Surveys: Predictive and On-site

If your WiFi is 2 years old, it’s slow and needs an upgrade.

Predictive Survey vs. On-Site Survey

When implementing a data collection application, a company can purchase the best equipment, have the best software and the best intentions and fail miserably if the wireless infrastructure does not work as it should. We recommend that any wireless backbone is installed using a correctly performed Wireless Surveys as a design.

Predictive Survey

A Predictive survey is a virtual survey (no on-site visit) of your site or a facility that uses pertinent information about the site to plan the wireless network. Predictive surveys are used as an initial guide with a high-level investigative look into how many AP’s are needed and the location of the AP’s for best signal strength and coverage. Using company information such as square footage, ceiling height, rack locations, and a drawing of the building a predictive survey can be delivered with confidence.

What you get from AB&R®  How you start
  • Predictive Survey with Heat Map Design to estimate Access Point Requirements.
  • Calculate the Wi-Fi supported data rates that can be expected throughout the premises.
  • Antenna and other wireless equipment needed to support the design.
  • No Cost and No Strings Attached
  • Submit a scale drawing of your facility (.pdf, .jpg, or .png format)
  • Facility details: Square footage, Ceiling height, Construction type
  • Let us know the requested Wireless Coverage area
  • AB&R will return your Predictive site survey within 5 working days
  • We will have a solution engineer respond to you to review your survey

On-Site Survey

The process of planning and designing a wireless network, to provide a solution that will deliver the required coverage, data rates, network capacity, roaming capability and Quality of Service (QoS).

AB&R’s® On-Site Survey Process

Wireless Surveys are done on-site. When we are contracted to do a site survey we bring equipment with us to the installation site. Where possible we use the exact equipment that is to be purchased in order to ensure accurate results. Then we place the Access Points in the ceiling and test the coverage from multiple vantage points. When the optimum coverage is determined we note its location on a map and move to the next Access Point. At the end of the survey, we deliver a Site Survey Report to the customer show the optimum placement of each of the Access points or ports along with any site notes that were taken. We note potential future problems, wireless interference sources and other information that is relevant to the installation. We also meet with your IT team and discuss wireless security options and include our security recommendations in the report.

A Wireless Site Survey ensures that your new system is safe, secure and works everywhere in your facility that it needs to.

What you get from AB&R®  How you start
  • Site Survey to accurately define Access Point counts and locations.
  • Detection, measurement, and recording of the presence of RF Interference that could degrade the performance of a wireless network.
  • Calculate the Wi-Fi supported data rates that can be expected throughout the premises.
  • Wireless bridge locations.
  • Antenna’s and other wireless equipment needed to support the design.
  • Submit a scale drawing of your facility (.pdf, .jpg. or .png format)
  • Facility details: Square footage, Ceiling height, Construction type
  • Let us know the requested Wireless Coverage area
  • AB&R will schedule your site survey within 10 working days
  • We will have a solution engineer respond to you to review your survey
