The Zebra ZXP Series 8 card printer enables bank branches, retail stores and educational institutions to instantly issue flat (nonembossed), magnetic-stripe or smart cards on-site. Why is it considered “secure”?
As a complete solution, the printer, the application software and the cards they print must meet several industry standard security requirements including EMV (Europay, MasterCard and Visa). EMVCo sets industry standards for all equipment used in cashless pay point-of-sale devices. The standards ensure that when a bank or store buys a device, it will plug and play with the entire transactional system, and it will be certified as secure.
- The chip encoder within the ZXP Series 8 Secure Issuance printer is EMV level 1 certified and the printer hardware and software meet security requirements such as software and mechanically printer locking features, obscured card hoppers, Kensington® lock and secure data encryption (AES 128-bit).
- Blank or preprinted cards must come from special, EMV-certified manufacturers. Zebra does not sell EMV-certified cards.
